  1. 1

Prepare the apples by cutting out a small hole in the top and attaching a stick. Lightly grease a baking sheet for placing the coated apples on.

    For this step you'll need:

    • 7 Apple(s)
  2. 2

Dissolve the sugar in the water over a moderate heat. When it has dissolved, stir in the vinegar, syrup and butter.

    For this step you'll need:

    • 265g Unrefined demerara sugar
    • 130ml Water
    • ½tsp White wine vinegar
    • 2 tbsp Golden syrup
    • 30g Butter (unsalted)
  3. 3

Bring to the boil and cook until it reaches a hard crack stage. This should take about 10 minutes. To test this drop a small amount in a glass of cold water. If it is ready a blob of toffee will form which is slightly stretchy but breaks with pressure.

  4. 4

Dip each apple into the toffee turning it to completely cover the apple.

  5. 5

Leave the apples on the prepared tray. Wrap in cellophane for gifting.
