Using an electric whisk cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

    For this step you'll need:

    • 100g Butter (salted) softened
    • 100g Unrefined golden caster sugar
  3. 3

Whisk in the golden syrup and then stir in the flour, baking powder, cherries, chocolate and milk until a firm dough is formed, you may need to use your hands to bring together. Tip – place the tablespoon measure in boiling water for 30 seconds then measure out the golden syrup and you will find the syrup just slips off the spoon.

    For this step you'll need:

    • 1½ tbsp Golden syrup
    • 200g Plain white flour
    • 1½tsp Baking powder
    • 125g Glace cherries roughly chopped
    • 100g Dark chocolate
    • 2 tbsp Milk (whole)

Using your hands roll the dough into 20 walnut sized balls. Place slightly apart from each other on lined baking sheets as they will spread a little and press each one lightly with a fork.

  5. 5

Bake in the oven for 12 minutes until golden. Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
