    Beat the butter and sugar together until smooth, before adding the vanilla extract. Adding a splash of milk, if preferred will help soften and make a soft smooth consistency.

    For this step you'll need:

    • 50g Butter (unsalted) softened
    • 200g Icing sugar sifted
    • 1tsp Vanilla extract

    To create a coloured buttercream, add a few drops of food colouring at a time, mixing until your reach the desired colour.
