Old-Fashion 1950's Coconut Layer Cake

My grandmother and my mother made this same coconut cake.
Here's the recipe:
OOPS - I said 4 tablespoons should be 4 teaspoons
baking powder on the video.
Batter
2 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup softened butter
6 large eggs
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
Bake in preheated oven 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes

Icing
1 cup of sugar
4 tablespoons water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
4 large egg whites
1 teaspoons vanilla extract
12 ounces flake coconut
