Crispy Fried Onion Ring Recipe

Ingredients

2 Medium Onions
2 Large Eggs
3 Cups Vegetable Oil
1-1/2 Cups Italian Breadcrumbs
1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
1/4 Cup Whole Milk
1 Tbs Hot Sauce
2 Tbs Salt
1 Tsp Garlic Powder
1 Tsp Black Pepper

PBJ's Hot Creamy Onion Ring Sauce

2 Tbs Mayo
1 Tbs Ketchup
1/2 Tsp Cayenne Pepper

Instructions

1. Chop onions twice width-wise.

2. Remove inner rings (discard the super small rings in the center and the thin rings on the ends).

3. Add rings to a bowl and cover with cool water. Let onions soak for 30 minutes.

4. Afterwards, remove the clear skin from the interior of each onion.

5. Add eggs, milk, and hot sauce to a bowl, then whisk for about 45 seconds.

6. Add flour, salt, garlic powder, and pepper to a bowl, then stir in well.

7. Coat each onion ring (while still damp right from out the bowl of water) with flour and shake off excess flour.

8. Dip into egg wash, then drain excess egg.

9. Coat well with Italian breadcrumbs, then sit aside.

10. Place a pot over high heat.

11. Preheat oil for 7-9 minutes.

12. Add onion rings and cook for 30-40 seconds or until golden brown. Once done, sit aside on a paper toweled plate to drain excess oil.

13. For PhillyboyJay's Spicy Creamy Onion Ring Sauce..... Combine mayo, ketchup, and cayenne pepper, then stir in well.
