Simple and very tasty recipe
Authentic Kerala dish
Pidi Kozhi Curry
Ingredients:
For the Coconut Milk Chicken Curry
approx 650 gm chicken pieces
2 green chillies
2 big garlic
medium sized ginger
plenty of curry leaves
2 medium sized onions
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder
1 1/4 tsp coriander powder
garam masala ( made by powdering 2 cinnamon, 1 small tsp fennel seeds, 3 cloves, 3 cardamom, pepper to taste)
1 medium sized tomato
1/2 cup water to cook the chicken ( adjust as per personal preference)
1 cup thick coconut milk
salt to taste
coconut oil as required
*amount of green chilli, kashmiri chilli powder, pepper can be adjusted as per personal taste
* amount of water and coconut oil can be adjusted as per your gravy preference

For the pidi:
1 small tsp crushed cumin seeds
1 garlic
2 shallots ( chuvanulli)
1 3/4 cup + 2 tsp water ( I used a measuring cup, the amount of water depends upon the brand of rice flour used, first use the same measurement, then according add more boiled or more rice flour till you reach the desired consistency)
salt to taste
roasted rice flour 1 1/2 cups ( I used a measuring cup, I used very nice idiyappam podi)
1 cup grated coconut
1 1/2 glass thin coconut milk ( I used a standard sized tall steel glass to measure)- this is for cooking the pidi
few tbsps of roasted rice flour to coat the prepared pidis.
