BAGNET | Crispy Fried Pork Belly

"Bagnet" is an original delicacy from Ilocos, it is actually the version of “Lechon Kawali” (a deep fried pork belly dish).
Bagnet can be eaten on its own, it is traditionally dipped in vinegar or with steamed rice, tomato and shrimp paste (bagoong).

INGREDIENTS:
1 and 1/2 lbs Pork Belly (whole)
1 medium Onion, quartered
3 cloves Garlic
1 tbsp Salt
1 tbsp whole Black Peppercorn
Star Anise
3 pcs dried Bay Leaves
Pork Broth Cubes (optional)
2 Litres Water
Cooking Oil for deep frying
