Partner and Food Editor Silvana Franco bakes and decorates these little ghost cupcakes made with pumpkin and a touch of spice for Halloween. These could work at any time of year though by using canned pumpkin instead of fresh, and icing the top of each cupcake rather than decorating them as ghosts.

Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 55 minutes
Makes: 12

Ingredients:
350g pumpkin flesh, chopped into 2cm dice
200g unsalted butter
200g golden caster sugar
280g self-raising flour
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp mixed spice
3 eggs, beaten
4 tbsp milk

ICING
150g unsalted butter
75g soft cheese
250g icing sugar
120g marshmallow fluff
24 edible eyes, to decorate (optional)
