Caramelized onions are amazing! I am going to show you the best way to make them. You cannot rush the process or you risk burning the onions and/or not getting the wonderful caramelized effect.

Patience are required! Once you get them cooked you can use them for all sorts of recipes and on or in foods.

Here are 11 examples for what you can do with them:
1. add them to scrambled eggs
2. add to spaghetti sauce
3. put them on your salad
4. Put them in your sandwich
5. top your pizza
6. on your bbq steak, chicken, fish or pork
7. put them in soup
8. on your hot dog or hamburger
9. in your quessadilla
10. in your pasta dish
11. on top of a baked potato

Okay, I will stop but I could go on...

So the best way to cook the onions is low and slow. There is really no way around it if you want good caramelized onions.

Slice or chop your onions up, and you can use any kind like red onions, yellow onions or sweet onions. They all work.

Place some olive oil and a little butter in your frying pan. Yes any type of fry pan will work including stainless steel, non stick or cast iron.

Heat the oil and butter over medium high heat and when the butter bubbles and foams up add your onions. Stir to coat them in the oil. Add just a little salt.

Plan to stir the onions frequently and turn down the heat if they are browning to much too quickly. These should take a good 45 minutes to cook.

You are looking for nice golden brown onions. The darker they get the more flavorful they are.

You can freeze these too. Place them in the freezer after they have cooled off. Be sure and label them so you remember when you put them in there.

Enjoy,
Rockin Robin
